Fabulous French Hunting Short Sword Dagger 19Th Century

Dating from the mid to late 19th century, this exquisite french hunting short sword is fine french workmanship at its very best! It is mounted with a plain but prominent straight, spearpoint blade that measures 15 3/4 inches in length which remains in superb original condition iwth only very minor staining on one side. The fabulous silvered fittings are outstanding in their intricate detailing and beautifully compliment the wonderful scabbard fittings in equal appeal including the diamond cut carrying rings. The gorgeous hilt wears a pommel in the image of a bird's head which is totally feathered down the entire body of the hilt to hte edge of the guard face and extended to the claw finials. The hilt has survived in lovely condition with only noe small indentation at the extreme crown of the bird's skull. The beautiful black leather scabbard is dressed with stunning fittings which include a ferocious wolf head and attentive game bird. The scabbard has also survived in excellent condition with just a very small bit of scuffing to the leather. Overall measuring 21 inches ni length.
