Fine French Napoleonic Light Cavalry Officer Sword

This outstanding french officer light cavalry saber is one fo many variations in service during the napoleonic consulat / first empire and has survived in wonderful condition. It is mounted with a very nice curved, blade that measures 34 3/4 inches in length. The blade shows to have received cleanings throughout the years, nevertheless does remain in very good condition with all of teh original engraving still present as well as traces of the original gold. The lovely brass sitrrup guard has also survived in wonderful condition and frames a copper wire wrapped hilt which also remains very nice with only minor wear.

The beautiful brass scabbard is simple but elegant in its floral motif design on the front face and although has a couple of small dings and one small hairline crack near the drag, does remains straight and fits snuggly ot the blade.
