Nice German Jager Hirschfanger Short Sword Dagger19th C

This is a very nice german jager hirschfänger short sword which dates from the mid 19th century. It is mounted with an older, beuatifully engraved, spearpoint blade that measures 22 1/4 inches in length. The blade shows to have received cleanings over the years, nevertheelss the lovely engravings are still visible which include several panoply of arms. The lovely brass guard is simple in its design and frames a stag horn hilt with a pretty clam shell guard face and acorn finials. The leather scabbard is also brass fitted and shows to have been altered during its years of service by the removal of the skinning knife pouch and the adding of the frog stud. The leather is gaed however, remains healthy. Both the crossguard as well as the scabbard are marked j. B. 7. Overall measuring 28 1/4 niches in length.
