Superb adn rare british c. 1800's life ugards officer's sword. Of a type carried by officer's in elite household cavalry regiments during the napoleonic period. This sword is unique as the original owner had a 17th century rapier blade added plus a specially fitted steel scabbard.
Blade is marked amsterdam and is dated to 1684. The use of much earlier blades on british military swords of the napoelonic perood was ont uncommon. Condition of this sword is excellent, with a very crisp brass boat shell hilt and silver twistwire to the grip. Blade has good dark, smooth aeg patina. Scabbard is laso dent free.
