This large and impressive bowie knife is french in oriign and dates from the late 19th century. It is mounted with a very nice, massive clipped point blade that measures 8 11/16 inches in length. The blade shows some good honest wear with a nick to the cutting edge and some minor staining, nevertheless does remain in good condition and wears the marking g.
R on one side of the ricasso. The large steel boat shaped guard is simple in design and the lovely bone grips have survived in extremely nice condition. The wooden scabbard si leather covered and steel fitted and remains very healthy as well. Overall measuring 14 3/8 inches in length.
